It is a moving meditation that focuses on exploring the relationship between mind, body, and breath. Yes, our vinyasa and Vin-Yin classes are beginner friendly, but they are challenging. Expect to feel strong and stable, more mobile and flexible, and most important the mind will relax and feel more spacious to reduce stress and anxiety. YIN and RESTORATIVE YOGA
Yin is a deeply calming and therapeutic practice designed to help release tension, improve flexibility, and restore balance to both the body and mind. This slower-paced class combines long-held Yin yoga shapes with the deeply nourishing support of Restorative yoga to create space for relaxation, healing, and inner stillness.
In Yin Yoga, postures—often referred to as “shapes”—are held for several minutes to gently stress the joints, fascia, connective tissues, and deeper layers of the body. This practice encourages softness, surrender, mindfulness, and the cultivation of the body’s more receptive and calming energies. Through stillness and conscious breathing, students are invited to slow down, turn inward, and deepen their mind-body connection.
Restorative Yoga focuses on activating the body’s natural relaxation response by fully supporting the body with props and allowing the nervous system to unwind. This deeply restorative practice can help reduce stress, calm anxiety, improve sleep, and create a profound sense of peace and well-being.

HATHA
Hatha Yoga is a traditional and grounding yoga practice that has been passed down for thousands of years, offering a balanced approach to strengthening both the body and mind. The word “Hatha” comes from the Sanskrit roots Hameaning sun and Tha meaning moon, symbolizing the union of opposing energies and the cultivation of balance within.
At Costa Rica Yoga Center, our Hatha Yoga classes focus on foundational yoga postures, breath awareness, alignment, mindfulness, and body awareness. This slower-paced, all-levels class includes longer holds in asanas (poses), conscious breathing techniques, and moments of stillness designed to help quiet the mind, improve concentration, and deepen the connection between breath and movement.
Hatha Yoga aims to develop strength, flexibility, stability, and inner calm while encouraging students to become more present and connected to themselves. Rooted in ancient yogic traditions, this practice also works to activate energy centers within the body and cultivate greater spiritual awareness through mindful movement and breathwork.
